On Monday we announced our newest Glow Juicery and Raw Food Café Owner, Tim McIlwraith. We sat down with Tim to find out a bit more about him and why he loves to Glow.
CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
Of course! My name is Tim McIlwraith. I am twenty-nine years old and grew up in Sherwood Park, Albera. I’m a power engineer by trade. That’s pretty much it…
I love travelling, staying active, and spending time with the people who mean the most to me – my friends and family. When I'm not playing hockey or golf, I volunteer as a track coach for Special Olympics Edmonton, which is something that has become very dear to me. Some of my highlights from 2016 were seeing Pearl Jam at the Pemberton Music Festival, completing my first marathon in Toronto, a special family trio to Canmore, and preparing to bring Glow to Edmonton’s vibrant downtown.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST TRY GLOW JUICE AND HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE COMPANY?
I only tried Glow for the first time earlier this year when my sister recommended it — I was instantly hooked!
When you are a person who is always on the go, Glow’s menu aligns perfectly with the types of food you need to fuel your body; however, I didn't know that I was going to be a part of the Glow family until after I met the founder, Marnie Ashcroft. Marnie might come across as all business, but when you listen to her speak you see she truly wants to help people — she wants to create a positive change in the way people see and interact with their food. I used to be the guy reading labels on everything I ate and counting calories until Marnie and her Glow brand showed me that I didn’t have to live like that. Every Juice and Raw Food item provides energy and detoxifies the body – it’s been game changing for my personal approach to health and wellness.
HOW DO YOU LIVE THE GLOW LIFE?
I live the Glow life with one daily goal that I always have in mind: every time I interact with another human being, it is my job to try to make their day a little better. Whether it’s paying a stranger a compliment, giving “airport arrivals sized” hugs, or telling a joke to a friend, if that person leaves the situation happier than when they arrived, it’s a win for me.
Opening a Glow Juicery is another way of doing that. I want to provide natural, healthy, and delicious products for clients that I can be proud of because I know it’s positively impacting their body and mind.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE GLOW PRODUCTS?
My favourite juice is a toss-up between After Glow and Citrus Glow. When I drink them I can literally feel my energy levels increasing. I believe in the products and that’s why I strive to live a Glow lifestyle. I want to help encourage others to do so as well.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR YOUR NEW LOCATION?
I’m excited about our location because of the real community feel in the downtown community where we’re opening. I’ve met so many small business owners who have been so encouraging and welcoming. Everyone wants to collaborate on ideas, help support and promote one another, and I know our store is going to fit right in. From volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, to donating Juice or Raw Food to certain charity events, as well as pop-ups at many local events, I can’t wait for our location to become a staple in the heart of Edmonton.
WHEN CAN WE FIND OUT EXACTLY WHERE THE NEW GLOW LOCATION WILL BE?
We will be revealing the new location later this week! Beginning on Monday, December 26, Glow Clients will be able to place orders for pick up at our downtown location, which will officially open on Monday, January 2, 2017!
I am looking forward to opening a business downtown that will contribute to being one more reason why Edmonton is the best city in the world!
